This is the Mao collar (band collar) dress shirt in black Giza 45 — the apex grade of Egyptian Nile Delta cotton, fibre staple length over 40 millimetres, yarn count 140s 2-ply, the same cloth grade that the Place Vendôme houses use for their Royal Oxford and Sea Island premium shirting programmes. The collar is the band collar — the Mao collar in the Western canon, the *qipao* collar in its Chinese antecedent — that strips the shirt of the traditional collar entirely, leaving only a fine stand of cloth at the throat. Single-needle stitching throughout. Hand-attached collar bone. Mother-of-pearl buttons from a single-source Japanese shell. Slim-cut darted back. No visible logo.
