This is the boat-neck *marinière* of Brittany — the wide horizontal collar opening the Breton fishing communities have worn since the 1850s, the silhouette Coco Chanel adapted to women's-wear in the 1920s. The cloth is GOTS-certified organic Supima — the long-staple American cotton variety descended from the Pima programme of the early twentieth century — grown without pesticides, spun to a 60s 2-ply jersey, and finished with no chemical softeners. It is the best cloth for direct skin contact in commercial textile production. Slim-cut. No visible logo. The only mark is a small woven Apperelle hem-label inside the back-yoke seam.
